This online edition of the Allgemeines Kunstlerlexikon. International Artists Database is one of the most extensive, up-to-date and authoritative art-history reference database. It contains information on visual artists from all over the world and throughout the ages, from antiquity to the present. The database makes the complete articles from all published volumes of the Allgemeines Kunstlerlexikon (AKL) searchable, plus giving access to short biographical information (index data) extracted from articles in the AKL and the well-known reference works Thieme-Becker (A to Z) and Vollmer (A to Z). For the part of the alphabet not yet covered by the AKL, it contains short biographical information from the AKL's Bio-Bibliographical Index A-Z (AKL Index; first edition 1999-2003). The database contains a total of approx. 1,102,720 searchable documents.

Users have access to the Archive 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using any computer with web-browsing capabilities. From simple keyword searching to more complex searches such as concept, color, and category, users will enhance their research and increase their knowledge by accessing over 4.6 million photographs dating back to 1826 and as current as a few moments ago. Tens of thousands of graphics, more than 4,500 hours of audio files dating from the 1920’s, and news stories and headlines dating from 1997 will allow the user to complete their research project with content as diverse as the project itself.

Art Index Retrospective, produced by The H.W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that cumulates citations to Art Index volumes 1-32 of the printed index published between 1929-1984. The database cites articles from periodicals published throughout the world. Periodical coverage includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Dutch. In addition to articles, Art Index Retrospective indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals. Subjects covered include advertising art, antiques, archaeology, architecture and architectural history, art history, crafts, decorative arts, folk art, graphic arts, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, motion pictures, museology, non-western art, painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, television, textiles.

ARTbibliographies Modern (ABM) provides full abstracts of journal articles, books, essays, exhibition catalogs, PhD dissertations, and exhibition reviews on all forms of modern and contemporary art, with approximately 12-13,000 new entries being added each year. Entries date back as far as the late 1960s. ABM is the premier source of information on modern and contemporary arts dating from the late 19th century onwards, and including photography since its invention. It includes abstracts of English and foreign-language material on famous and lesser-known artists, movements, and trends.
